Common questions

You may find the answer to your query here before reaching out.

What is a PIR, and how do I get one?
A PIR (Property Irregularity Report) is the official document airlines use to track mishandled baggage. You need to get it directly from the airline's baggage services desk at the airport as soon as you notice your bag is missing, delayed, or damaged. This tracking number is essential for any subsequent claim.
How long does the airline take to process my claim?
Most baggage claims receive at least an initial response within 30 days. The total timeframe varies based on the airline, type of claim, and current claim volume. If you don't hear back within 30 days, follow-up is required — which is exactly what BagHelp does for you.
What if my flight involved multiple airlines?
Generally, you file the property irregularity report with the last airline responsible for delivering your bags to your final destination. Our team can help you identify the correct airline to claim against.
Is my information secure?
Yes, absolutely. All case information is handled confidentially and used solely for the purpose of assessing and pursuing your claim. We do not share your data with third parties.
What documents do I need for a baggage claim?
Our claims experts will let you know if you're missing something. Typically you'll need: your booking confirmation or ticket, baggage tag receipt, PIR tracking number, receipts for emergency purchases, photos of damage (if applicable), and any correspondence with the airline. See our full claim documents guide for details.
